19th Target Fabrication Meeting

21 – 26 February 2010 | Orlando, Florida

Welcome to the 19th Target Fabrication Meeting Web Site. The Registration, Abstract submission, and Foreman nomination links are now available to you. We have also published a link on the Activities page for your advance purchase of Disney Theme Park tickets.

As sponsors for the 19th Target Fabrication Meeting, the University of Rochester's Laboratory for Laser Energetics, and assisted by Los Alamos National Laboratory, welcomes your participation at the conference to be held at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort in Orlando, Florida, February 21 through 26, 2010.

The topics to be discussed will cover the diverse plenitude of subjects that comprise all aspects of fabricating targets for experiments on high-power, high-energy laser and ion facilities. These include but are not limited to

  • Capsule and hohlraum fabrication and properties
  • Target assembly and metrology/characterization technologies
  • Cryogenic target handling systems
  • Cryogenic layer formation and characterization
  • Radiological issues related to tritium and activated infrastructures
  • Containment, safety, and environmental impact
  • Tritium properties and interaction with materials
  • Industrial and biomedical applications

The conference format will resemble previous conferences. Plenary presentations will be used to introduce the topics of the session. The remaining presentations will be contributed papers. Oral presentations will be augmented by poster presentations. Following the precedent of earlier conferences, the agenda will include oral and poster presentations after dinner; this in lieu of organized conference activities in the afternoon. Conference participants may use this opportunity to explore Disney World, the wonderful golf courses in the area, or to continue working in ad-hoc workgroups.

Contributed abstracts are requested by November 21, 2009, and the final agenda will be posted on the LLE web site by December 31, 2009. All contributed oral talks will be twenty minutes and should allow a three-minute discussion period. Posters should fit in a space 40 inches high and 60 inches long. All presentations must be unclassified.

Papers will be published in Fusion Science and Technology.

The working language of this conference will be English.
